Who Wants to Be the Biggest Loser? - The Truth About Obesity

When it comes to obesity, the biggest losers are the winners; because the more you lose those extra pounds, the better.

In the United States, there are more than 60% adults who are overweight; 25% of adults are obese and 13% of children are overweight. Whether being overweight or obese, these are serious health problems. Body Maximum Index (BMI) is used to measure how the person's weight and height correspond to his body fat. This measurement will do the calculation for you, when your BMI are 25 -29.9, you are overweight; over 30, you are obese.

Genetics, environmental, psychological and a family history of chronic diseases are the causes of obesity. This condition is a health risk and strongly recommends the reduction of body weight as much as 10%. A good way to reduce is doing physical activities from 30 - 45 minutes three or five days a week; others are proper diet, behavior modification and use of reducing drugs; in severe cases, a gastrointestinal surgery is recommended.

Three important steps to deal with obesity:

1. Get to know facts about obesity; adopt a healthy lifestyle, examine the risk factors involved and possibility of elimination.
2. Identify the steps to help prevent obesity; formulate a health-eating plan; carry on some changes in your behavior and at the charge lose a little amount of weight.
3. Consult a physician who might advise you on plans; inquire on the proper diet for you, the best exercise that you can adopt, and any medical assistance if needed.

On the problem of obesity, you play to lose because winning is tantamount to losing your chances of physical wellness.
