The company announced last month that it will create over 22,000 new jobs by the end of 2009 for both new stores and expansion of existing stores in the United States. This was good news for an American economy that began 2009 with more than 200,000 job cuts announced in the month of January. January 26 was labeled Bloody Monday as 65,400 cuts were announced on that day alone.

Wal Mart is ranked number 2 on the Fortune 500 list of largest corporations in the United States. It employs nearly 2 million people worldwide and has revenues in excess of $405 billion. Wal Mart has more than 4,000 stores in the United States and is likely to have a store location near you.
