If you are a biking enthusiast like me, then you are always looking for a great new trail to explore. The first step is deciding where you want to go. My suggestion for this trip would be to travel to Maine. Maine is one of the most beautiful states in the Union. Because of this, there are many parks and outdoor places to take your bike out to enjoy the scenery.
Acadia Nation Park is one of these great places that any biking explorer must find. The park, called a Mountain Desert, is filled with beautiful trees in the summer and great snow in the winter. This being said, the best time to visit this park is Spring-Fall. In the fall the leaves are the most famous for changing into beautiful colors across the mountain sides.
There are two main places to go ride your bike: The Carriage Roads and the Park Loop Road.
The Carriage Roads are the most popular, because they get off the beaten track a little more than the Park Loop Road. There are more than 45 miles of carriage roads that can be used by bicyclists. Another draw to the carriage roads are the famous stone bridges of Maine. These beautiful bridges offer great opportunities for picture taking. The surface of the road is broken rock, which means you are going to need to bring your mountain bike for these trails.
The Park Loop Road is exactly what it sounds like. This is the primary road built for the park that visits all the camp grounds and all the sights. This road is a great opportunity to see some different scenery around the park. There are about 25 miles of roads on the main and short roads, so it would be great day trip.
There are a lot of scenic points, but really, you will want to leave yourself enough time for stopping to take a lot of pictures, every few hundred feet!
Acadia National Park may take some times to get to, but it is an experience truly worth the extra effort. It's time for you and your family to see this beautiful American treasure.
